Supervisors will help support the team through ongoing coaching and evaluation with Youth Counselors, to promote growth and support within the organization.   Supervisors will receive training in Trauma Informed Treatment: Restorative Approach to oversee Restorative Task assignments with our youth.  Youth Counselor Supervisors will work with staff and youth to help support a safe living environment through daily adherence and oversight of the environment of care responsibilities.  This position is great for those with experience in the field looking to elevate their skills.

Work Schedule and Environment

• Hours: Evenings and Weekends, 2^nd shift (4p-12a), approximately twenty-four (24) hours per week.  All candidates must commit to weekend availability. 
• This position participates in an on-call rotation and responds to crisis situations.

• Interacts with residents, modeling and promoting positive, appropriate behavior and boundaries. 

• Supervise and mentor residents in various situations and a variety of daily activities.  This may include transportation to work, appointments, court hearings, etc.  Along with dispensing medication per Physician’s orders, assistance with skills for independent living, overseeing outings and special activities and many more.
• Regularly and professionally complete documentation on each resident’s daily progress note, contacts with family and the staff log.

• Oversee and encourage resident’s contact with family including phone calls and personal visits
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and provide open communication and suggestions for improvements.
• Communicate regularly and openly with supervisors and fellow staff regarding policies, processes, residents’ behavior, etc.
• Communicates effectively and professionally with parents, other service providers, fellow staff, and other adults.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

• Applicants must be 21 years old and must have a high school diploma or equivalency. Upon hire, candidates must complete employee file requirements (outlined by the Office Manager) and must obtain a CPR & First Aid Certification, which will both be provided by the organization.  

DUTIES:

Maintains park grounds and turf, routinely mowing grass, trimming and cutting shrubs and trees, raking/mulching leaves, hauling dirt, spreading dirt, and snow removal, as needed.

Operates various heavy and light equipment, including dump trucks, skid loader, tractor, RTV, chainsaw and various hand tools and related attachments in effecting the general maintenance, repair, and safety of park grounds and facilities.

Repairs, constructs, and paints park facilities and equipment such as open shelters, piers, benches, picnic tables, playground equipment, and other facilities, as needed or assigned.

Ensures the proper functioning of assigned vehicles and equipment by performing minor repairs and maintenance.

Maintains building appearance by sweeping and mopping floors, stripping and waxing floors, buffing floors, polishing fixtures, changing light bulbs, clean restrooms, emptying trash, cleaning walls, and baseboards.

Maintains outdoor areas by picking-up trash and sweeping area sidewalks and parking lots.

Performs minor building repairs, carpentry and roofing, and electrical and plumbing work; notifies supervisor of need for major repairs and maintenance.

Drives light and heavy trucks to haul supplies, parts, and materials.

Assist with maintenance duties as requested on other county facilities on an as needed basis.

Performs related duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Working knowledge of skill in the operation of dump trucks, skid loader, tractor, mowers, chainsaws, power washers and various hand tools and related equipment.

Working knowledge of and ability to operate custodial equipment such as buffing and stripping machines.

Basic knowledge of mechanics of light equipment and ability to perform preventive maintenance and minor repair on vehicles, mowers, chainsaws and other park equipment.

Working knowledge of safety procedures for working in or around department equipment.

Basic knowledge of building maintenance and carpentry, plumbing, painting and masonry skills.

Ability to follow verbal instructions, and effectively communicate with co-workers and general public.

Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the position including the ability to lift and carry park equipment up to 50 pounds.

This position does require occasional weekend work/shifting of duty hours during certain recreational seasons.

Ability to legally operate a wide variety of vehicles and equipment; must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License.

LICENSE/ CERTIFICATION NEEDED: Must possess a valid Indiana Driver's License or ability to secure on within 60 days of hire, and must be insurable under the Floyd County Department of Parks and recreation insurance carrier. CDL preferred, but not required. Prefer or capable of becoming a CPSI—Certified Playground Safety Inspector and CPA-Certified Pesticide Applicator.

DUTIES:

Manage daily operations of the 27,000-square-foot Southern Indiana Sports Center, including parks-operated leagues, tournaments, special events, and third-party facility rentals.

Serve as the director and coordinator for youth and adult sports leagues and tournaments, overseeing planning, scheduling, staffing, operations, and successful event execution.

Supervises and directs assigned personnel as needed, including interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations, keeping supervisor and assigned staff informed of organization developments, and assisting Superintendent with corrective instruction and evaluating job performance.

Collaborates with Superintendent on operations, including, but not limited to, evaluation of programs, coordination of recreational activities within the community, developing and administering a comprehensive program of recreational opportunities for local citizens as outlined in Department’s 5-Year Master Plan, reviewing recreational activities and programs, maintaining accurate records of programs and participants, and preparing and submitting reports.

Prepares and submits proposals for programs to Superintendent.

Assists with recreational activities, camps, leagues, tournaments, concerts and special events.

Prepares various reports, submitting them to Superintendent, Parks Board, and others as required.

Recruits, trains, and recognizes part-time staff and volunteers and communicates department and program goals and objectives to them.

Promotes facilities and recreation programs and activities among general public and oversees public relations and media for athletic programs and special events. Assists with publicity and weekly signboard preparation and establishing and maintaining partnerships with organizations, businesses, and institutions for collaborative efforts on mutual projects and missions.

Processes purchases and receipts for recreation programs with Superintendent and Office Manager.

Maintains accurate accounting of all schedules and fees in online software and works in cooperation with Office Manager in meeting all recommendations of Indiana State Board of Accounts.

Performs related duties as assigned.

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Administration or related field with at least three (3) years’ responsible experience in the field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must be 21 years or older.

Possession of or ability to obtain First Aid, AED, CPR, etc. within six (6) months of hire.

Ability to meet all hiring requirements including passage of a drug screen.

Thorough knowledge of the full range of theories and principles accepted in the field of recreation management with the ability to apply such knowledge to meet the recreational needs of the community as defined in the department’s 5-Year Master Plan.

Thorough knowledge of Department functions and ability to direct recreational activities and operations consistent with program goals.

Practical knowledge of rules, regulations, and policies and procedures regarding park operations and programs with ability to develop long-term plans and oversee operations.

Practical knowledge of standard office practices and procedures and basic computer skills, including word processing/spreadsheet/email/presentation/internet, with ability to learn Department-specific software/applications and to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations.

Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to prepare documents, correspondence, and detailed written reports.

Ability to supervise and direct assigned personnel as needed, including interviewing candidates and making hiring recommendations, keeping supervisor and assigned staff informed of organization developments, and assisting Superintendent with corrective instruction and evaluating job performance.

 DUTIES:

Maintains appearance and cleanliness of assigned areas, such as entrances, hallways, stairwells, offices, courtrooms, and jury rooms, including sweeping/mopping/vacuuming floors, cleaning glass such as doorways and windows, wiping furniture and woodwork such as chairs and railings, disinfecting water fountains, and refilling paper products and soap dispensers.

Cleans and disinfects assigned bathrooms, including, but not limited to, disinfecting and cleaning urinals, toilets, and sinks, checking and washing walls and mirrors, sweeping and emptying trash cans.

Vacuums, cleans glass and windows, as needed wax floors, cleans furniture and blinds.

Removes trash from exterior of buildings.

Performs related duties as assigned.

 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGES:

High school diploma or GED.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Ability to meet all Department hiring and retention requirements, including passage of a drug test.

Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of Department safety policies and procedures and basic janitorial and sanitation requirements for assigned areas of responsibility.

Knowledge of safety precautions and practices applicable to working with a variety of cleaning chemicals and pesticides, with ability to read and understand equipment manuals and label directions for correct mixing and use of cleaning supplies and/or pesticides.

Ability to operate a variety of hand and/or power tools and equipment in performance of duties, including, mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, and other tools as needed.

Ability to physically perform essential duties, including standing/walking for long periods, driving, lifting/carrying/pushing/ pulling objects weighing more than 50 pounds, handling/grasping objects, crouching, kneeling, bending, reaching, close vision, depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly.
